St. Louis Reclaiming Its Reputation As A Global-Caliber Manufacturing Hub
Our region’s manufacturers and product developers are working together to rebuild St. Louis’ great legacy as a World-Class manufacturing hub.
St. Louis, MO – Aug 26, 2019 – In the morning of August 29th, Craftsmen Industries will play host to St. Louis Makes, a local nonprofit collective of our region’s premier manufactures and product developers. The mission is to promote the best products, the best practices and best in skillsets unique to our community while providing growth opportunities for its members and the St. Louis region as a whole. With an expected attendance of over 100, the event will include leadership from CEO’s, Presidents and Directors from St. Louis’ most innovative and historically important manufacturing companies converging to share ideas and insights on how to promote the entire St. Louis Manufacturing landscape on a global scale.
St. Louis’ ability to deliver a superior product didn’t happen by chance. Globally dominate companies, including Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, Bayer/Monsanto and Anheuser Busch, headquartered here and demanded excellence. Our manufacturing businesses were built to respond. “The most challenging verticals in manufacturing are Aerospace/Defense and Life Sciences,” explains Marc Bowers, CEO of St. Louis Makes. “Both have their foundations firmly planted right here in our city. The superiority of our capabilities was necessary to meet the demands of customers right in our backyard.”
Over 100 years ago, the strength of the region’s economy, location and our unique capabilities solidified St. Louis’ position as a leader in global manufacturing. According to stlouismakes.org, manufacturing remains a quarter of the St Louis region’s economic activity. St. Louis Makes exists to preserve and promote this community by delivering education, networking, showcase events and market analysis to ensure its ongoing growth, strength and profitability while creating a more diverse community of like-minded businesses who will advocate for Manufacturing in the region.
“While the rest of the world sees a decline in many sectors of American dominance, St. Louis is taking its destiny into its own hands. Standing out as a beacon of American innovation, the greater St. Louis region continues its legacy as the nation’s top manufacturing hub. The competitively-dominant factors in our success include the strength of our local workforce, the strong foundation of our education, our creative history, ingenuity, and a work ethic superior to any other region I’ve had the honor to lead.” said Mark Steele, President and CEO of Craftsmen Industries in St. Charles. “We’re proud to promote this region, our industry and the future of manufacturing. We’re proud to be a part of the success in this unique community and to play host to so many more who share a vision of creating a region of the best in manufacturing in the global marketplace.”
